Case Study 1:
One
of our clients was in the process of having a large woodburning boiler
installed in his kitchen fireplace, making use of the existing chimney.
However, aside from the horrendous fumes, noise and visual impact, it
didn't fit the space! We suggested knocking through the back of the
fireplace and constructing a small boiler room to look like a porch. It
was a straightforward solution, which can be seen by the images below.
It was built in blockwork and clad in stone to blend in with the main
house. Click on the thumbnails below to see larger images. Case Study 2:
We
were asked to find some way to disguise the functional but ugly metal
posts supporting the pillars of this new hangar. Our solution was to
carve some false padstones and mortar them around the posts. |

|
| One of the original posts | We carved stones to fit exactly round each post
| The stones were mortared in place
| The pillars now look as if they were placed on padstones when the hangar was built

Case Study 3: The
corner of this wall, where blockwork meets stonework, had been attacked
by weather and ivy and was crumbling. We removed the loose material,
rebuilt the damaged part and covered the blockwork in a sympathetic
lime render. Case Study 4:
The images below show various stages in the construction of a retaining wall we built in stone.
Case Study 5:
The installation of this woodburning insert was completed by us using reclaimed stone and timber. | |
